Micro-characterization of Dust and Materials of Dust Origin at a Cement Industry Located in Bangladesh

Industrial dust generation from material processing is an uninterrupted phenomenon, hence analyzing materials of origin with particles important to comprehend the entire scenario occupational health exposure (OHE). In this study, we investigated morphological, elemental, and mineralogical characteristics engendered in cement industry (CI) Bangladesh. The samples were accumulated collectors internal roadways CI understand nature atmospheric CI. All that could potentially be sources collected, including clinker, gypsum, limestone, fly ash, slag, two types products. Scanning electron microscopy energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), powder diffraction (XRD), fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) performed for characterization. SEM micrographs showed presence fine (particles ≤ PM2.5) ultra-fine PM0.1) diverse morphology studied samples. Ca, Si, Al, Mg, Fe, K, Na, Mo, Ti found as existing metallic elements through EDS technique. Several minerals silicate, oxide, carbonate, sulfate detected major crystalline phases Portland by SEM-EDS, XRD, FTIR analyses samples; among which some are well documented hazards. trace organic carbon was observed all spectra. most significant outcome study detection carcinogenic substances such silica (quartz, cristobalite) asbestoses (anthophyllite, chrysotile, crocidolite) For instance, quartz while road existence both cristobalite. However, only source materials, but they released anytime during handling, thus creating OHE.
